I Will Rise by Chris Tomlin
There’s a peace I’ve come to know
Though my heart and flesh may fail
There’s an anchor for my soul
I can say “It is well”
Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead
[Chorus:]
And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles’ wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise
There’s a day that’s drawing near
When this darkness breaks to light
And the shadows disappear
And my faith shall be my eyes
Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead
[Chorus:]
And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles’ wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise
And I hear the voice of many angels sing,
“Worthy is the Lamb”
And I hear the cry of every longing heart,
“Worthy is the Lamb”
[x2]
[Chorus:]
And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles’ wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will riseĀ
We who believe in Jesus will rise one day, and what a glorious day that will be.
But the question remains: will we, in whatever circumstance life throws at us, fall on our knees before our Lord? Beg God for sustenance, comfort and strength to face whatever looms before us?
And will we then rise up from the muck, give witness to God’s sustaining mercy and love, and proclaim the victory that is ours through Christ Jesus.
Did I not say to you that if you would believe, you would see the glory of God? John 4:40
Wow! Speaks directly to the heart. God does give us the strengh to rise from the muck!
And oh, how God has given me that strength again and again . . . ‘after you have suffered for a little while, our God . . . personally will come and pick you up, and set you firmly in place, and make you stronger than ever.’ 1 Peter 5:10 LVB
